Position Start Date: April/May 2017 

Responsibilities 

The customer service representative will quote policies over the phone and in person. This individual will also assist the general lines agent with day-to-day administrative work, and therefore will need to manage information with precise attention to detail and seamless execution.

 Day to day activities:

  • Deliver excellent client service through quoting policies efficiently and accurately over the phone and in person
  • Service new and existing clients, review insurance coverage, assist with claims, assist with endorsements, take payments
  • Review and process new business and renewal applications for compliance with underwriting authority and guidelines
  • Process written mortgagee and lienholder requests
  • Process cancellation requests
  • Keep up to date on rate, form and coverage changes through bulletins, circulars and trainings
  • Compute and type premium finance agreements as needed
  • Develop new business using referrals, leads, networking, and cross-sale opportunities
  • Record accurate client account information during phone calls and in-person
  • Resolve policy problems by clarifying the client’s issue, determining the cause of the problem, selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem, expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution
  • Respond to client inquiries and problems by providing information or directing requests to others who can supply the necessary information or service
  • Answer questions regarding policy coverage, premiums, payment options, and processing claims
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients by providing prompt and accurate service so as to promote client retention
  • Recognize, document and alert general lines agent of trends in client calls or walk-ins
  • Maintain client records by verifying and updating account information
  • Generate and analyze client sales reports
  • Contact carriers, underwriters and marketing reps as needed
  • Create and distribute client renewal and retention letters and emails
  • Create and distribute prospect letters and emails
  • Participate in trainings and classes for skill and knowledge development
  • Adhere and comply with established agency procedures
  • Adhere to standards of performance
  • Contribute to team effort by conducting related tasks as needed
  • Other duties as requested (Open and close agency office, maintain office cleanliness, shred confidential documents, etc.)
  • Work in the office at full-time capacity
  • Manage the office while agent is out in the field (will be times when CSR is only person in the office)

 Candidate Profile and Experience Prerequisites

  • High school diploma
  • 4-40 license preferred; if not licensed, must be willing to undergo certification program and obtain license within first 60 days of employment
  • Minimum of 2 years of sales and/or customer service experience required
  • Experience working in insurance agency (quoting auto and home insurance) preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required
  • Proficient skills in computer/internet use and Microsoft Office required
  • Comfortable with and excited by quoting policies and servicing clients
  • Motivated by meeting ambitious sales and service goals
  • Possess exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Driven by demonstrating strong client service skills
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Communicate well and receive feedback with enthusiasm
  • Take personal responsibility for their work and professional growth

Benefits and Salary 

Starting pay for this position is $11 per hour. If not licensed, we will cover the cost of the 4-40 customer service certification program. In addition, bonuses can be earned by this individual once agency sales reach predetermined quota. Benefits are not available at this time.
